NASHVILLE, Tenn. – August 17, 2009 – August 18 marks the release of Brady Seals’ new album, Play Time. The eleven song collection features all but one song written/co-written by the ASCAP Triple Play award-winning artist. He produced the project as well.
The one-time frontman for Little Texas and Hot Apple Pie joins boutique label, StarCity Recording Company for the album’s release. Run by Grammy-nominated producer and engineer Jeff Glixman (Georgia Satellites, Kansas) and musician/songwriter Jim Gentile, StarCity gave Brady complete creative freedom to create the music he wanted.
Seals took to the studio with playtime in mind and there’s not a slow song to be found. He selected songs with themes of “long-legged, half-wasted” party girls, dance club debauchery, girl fights, illicit smoke breaks, pimped out Cadillacs, pick-up lines and a certain prize-winning marijuana crop. He hired musicians including Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ drummer Stan Lynch, pop icon Richard Marx and members of Hot Apple Pie. And he experimented with a variety of sounds including speeding up his vocals to create a bluegrass sound and delivering two songs with a touch of country style rap.
Seals will be featured in the August 24 issue of Country Weekly (on newsstands August 17), on “Inside Music Row,” and can be found on several websites including features on Maxim.com and Examiner.com. Country Weekly music critic Chris Neal called Play Time “musically freewheeling and lyrically lascivious.” And Robert Oermann writes that Seals’ first single, “Ho Down,” is a “well-produced stomper.”
Seals returns to his hometown of Fairfield, Ohio, on August 29 to perform following the 5th Annual Hero’s Ride in memory of LCPL Michael J. Cifuentes, PFC Timothy J. Hines, PFC James H. Miller IV, LCPL Taylor B. Prazynski and LCPL William D. Spencer – all local military personnel killed in action. The free concert will be treated as a CD release party and will feature characters from his album, Play Time, roaming the crowd giving away Seals’ latest single and Play Time balloons.
Brady Seals is currently touring in support of Play Time and making visits to radio stations with his promotion team, Nine North. Find out more on Seals’ newly designed website: bradyseals.com
ABOUT BRADY SEALS:
Seals has successfully reinvented himself throughout his career, while always remaining true to his musical roots in rock-tinged country. At 16, Seals left his home in Ohio as a touring musician, and by 21 had scored three #1 hits with Little Texas—all of which he’d co-written, winning him the ASCAP Triple Play award. He went on to release three solo albums in the late 90’s before forming and fronting the quartet of player’s players known as Hot Apple Pie, with whom he scored a top 20 hit (“Hillbillies”) and opened for such superstars as Keith Urban and Tim McGraw.
