DARIN & BROOKE ALDRIDGE BRING NEW LIFE TO “PRICE I PAY”

DARIN & BROOKE ALDRIDGE BRING NEW LIFE TO “PRICE I PAY”

“PRICE I PAY” RELEASES, TODAY, FEBRUARY 9th (ALBUM APRIL 19th) TO RADIO AND ALL STREAMING PLATFORMS AND FEATURES LEGENDARY VIRTUOSO GUITARIST JOHN JORGENSON

NASHVILLE, TENN. (February 9, 2024) -- Acclaimed musical duo Darin and Brooke Aldridge are set to captivate audiences once again with their soulful rendition of Chris Hillman's (Desert Rose Band) classic, "Price I Pay” (aka The Price I Pay). The track releases, today, February 9th, to radio via AirPlay Direct and all streaming platforms. Known for their exceptional vocal harmonies and instrumental expertise, the husband-and-wife duo bring a fresh and distinctive perspective to the song, which features the inimitable John Jorgenson (Desert Rose Band, Earl Scruggs, Bonnie Raitt, Elton John, Luciano Pavarotti, Bob Dylan, and many others) on guitar.

Chris Hillman shares his excitement about the rendition, “I absolutely love Darin and Brooke Aldridge’s wonderful version of my song ‘Price I Pay’. HI am truly honored, as I know my co-writer, the late Bill Wildes would be, too. Excellent production by my pal, Mark Fain. This is a great record…..smokin’ red hot!”

John Jorgenson adds, “’Price I Pay’ holds a special spot in my musician’s heart, as it was used as a “barn-burning set-closer” for nearly every Desert Rose Band (DRB) concert from 1986-1991. It started with a short, mood-setting electric guitar intro that morphed over the years into a full-fledged feature. When Darin and Brooke invited me to recreate that part for their new acoustic version of the song, I immediately and emphatically said, “yes!”. Two challenges faced me then-first, to create a similar feeling guitar part including some of the original licks, but using an acoustic guitar without the delay effect I’d used on the DRB version, and, secondly, to complete the recording in a timely manner when I was going to be in Australia! Thankfully both things worked out, and I was able to record my guitar and the harmony vocals in my hotel room in Brisbane. What a treat it is to sing a third vocal part along with the special blend that Darin and Brooke are known for and to be part of such a successful re-imagining of Chris Hillman’s DRB classic. Special thanks to Mark Fain for his mixing skills. Nobody would ever know by listening that we were recording on separate continents!”

As the duo reimagined “Price I Pay,” Brooke and Darin infused the track with their signature style, creating a rendition that unmistakably stands out within the music landscape.

Darin and Brooke added, “We have loved ‘Price I Pay’ since we heard The Desert Rose Band’s cut from the late ‘80s. The lyrics really hit home, taking us back to our dating days. We were willing to pay the price for love and wanting to be with each other, even if sometimes it meant being away from each other for longer than we would’ve liked. These days, being married and sharing the same musical career, we no longer have to worry about that! What an honor to work on this song with the legendary John Jorgenson and to have the song debut on Chris Hillman’s Burrito Stand show on Sirius XM. Get your replay button ready. We hope ‘Price I Pay’ will be stuck in your head for a long time!”

The single will be available to music lovers across all DSPs, today February 9th.

The Curtain Call Award, presented in recognition of great achievement in the field of commercial music, has honored a Belmont University School of Music alum each spring since 1995. Sarah is only the second female to receive this honor.

Davison’s selection for this honor is a testament to her remarkable talent and significant contributions to the world of commercial music. A gifted pianist and vocalist, Davison is a piano performance graduate of Belmont University’s School of Music. She formed her highly successful all-female band, High Road, in 2011, garnering a GRAMMY® nomination for High Road’s work on the album, Gonna Sing, Gonna Shout. The band has received nominations in the Singing News Fan Awards (New Artist of the Year and Band of the Year) and the GMA Dove Awards (Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year). When not on tour with High Road, Davison has toured as a musician with iconic Country Music Hall of Famer George Jones on his final tour of Canada and is a frequent performer on the Grand Ole Opry with ACM Award-winner and Opry member, Mark Wills, Opry member, The Isaacs, and Emily Ann Roberts. "I feel beyond honored and grateful for being this year's Curtain Call Award recipient from the Belmont University School of Music, " says Davison. “I am only the 2nd female instrumentalist to ever receive this honor in the award’s history- wow! I strive to be a good musician and songwriter, not for awards or accolades, but to create songs that make a difference in the lives of the listener. I give all glory to God for my talent and any success I have achieved. Thank you to Belmont University for this amazing honor that I will forever cherish.”

Dusty Wells, Director of Artist & Label relations at Daywind Records and New Day Distribution, celebrated the award by stating, “We are absolutely thrilled for our own Sarah Davison to be awarded the 2024 Curtain Call Award from Belmont University School of Music. About High Road

Ask Sarah Davison what her favorite Bible verse is, and she’ll immediately quote Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” It’s a scripture that has accompanied the acclaimed singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist through life’s highs and lows, and one she hand-copied—in a flowery cursive script—from her grandmother’s Bible. “That verse has been with me from my Iowa hometown of 150 people to Nashville, going after what I feel called to do, trusting that He’s leading me down the right road,” she reflects.

It’s not only a scripture that beautifully encapsulates Sarah’s own journey, but the ordained path of her Grammy®-nominated band that she formed in 2011, High Road, as well. A gifted pianist, vocalist, and piano performance graduate of Belmont University, Sarah often lends her talents to a veritable who’s who of leading country artists. She toured with iconic Country Music Hall of Famer George Jones’ band on his final tour of Canada, she performs regularly on the Grand Ole Opry with ACM Award-winner and Opry member, Mark Wills, Emily Ann Roberts, Grand Ole Opry members, the Isaacs, and will be touring on the 2024 Blake Shelton Tour. Sarah has written choral pieces performed by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and co-wrote High Road’s #1 Gospel  song, “Christ My Hope, My Glory” which High Road performed with Grammy® Award

and Dove Award winner, Jason Crabb. She has been the pianist for Gaither Homecoming series tapings featuring Bradley Walker and actor Dennis Quaid. Sarah was the musical director for the 2022 Dove Awards segment which paid tribute to women in Gospel music, arranging the old spiritual song, “Working on a Building.” THe performance featured 12 women across Christian, country, and bluegrass music.

Since High Road’s genesis, Sarah and her bandmates have garnered a Grammy®

nomination for their work on the album "Gonna Sing, Gonna Shout", Singing News Fan Award nominations for New Artist of the Year and Band of the Year, and two Dove Award nominations for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year. They regularly perform at leading country, bluegrass, and Gospel music events including 40 Days and 40 Nights at the Ark Encounter, Singing In The Sun, Women of Joy, the National Quartet Convention, Dollywood, and more.

AWARD-WINNING SONGWRITER ANGIE APARO RELEASES LIVE VERSION OF “FREE MAN”

APARO IS SINGING BETTER THAN EVER

HITS INCLUDE THE GRAMMY-WINNING “CRY” BY FAITH HILL AND OTHERS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (January 12, 2024) – Award-winning songwriter Angie Aparo is set to rerelease live version of nearly 25-year-old song “Free Man,” across all DSPs. The Aparo-penned gem originally appeared on his Arista Records pop debut The American in the late 1990s. The live track takes on a whole new life and meaning and can be seen during a special live concert on John Rich's Rumble and other platforms January 24th at 7PM CST. Click link HERE to watch.

Aparo will join longtime friend and collaborator John Rich (“Big Time” and other co-writes) on the live stream that will take place at Rich’s Redneck Riviera in downtown Nashville. “I was able to be a part of the inaugural TurdStock back in November and received such a great response to this song, we have decided to get it back out there in a more stripped-down organic voice,” says Aparo.  Additionally, he adds, “Religious freedom is the only thing worth hanging onto during your darkest hours. To sing and pray freely to your creator makes you a rich man. Even when you have nothing in your hand to give.”

In April 2016, Aparo suffered Stroke which was due to a spontaneous dissection of his carotid artery. Diagnosed with Stroke induced Aphasia (the loss of ability to understand or express speech), Aparo felt his career was over.

“My lyrics made no sense to me; even every day, words were a challenge," Aparo remembers. “But it gave me hope when my neurologist told me that the combination of melody and word can be used to help with language problems.”

Freedom is a gift that America is afforded, and we often take for granted. It is a feeling to live like a free man for all the right reasons. Aparo has so eloquently and succinctly expressed the sentiment in this song.

Free Man—Angie Aparo

Hey wouldn't you wanna know

Everywhere that river flows to

right now

I can show you how

'cause someday you might wanna go

Someday you got nothing to show

For all your pain

For all your chains

I ain't saying it's the only way

But wouldn't you like to know

How if feels to live

Like a free man

To give

When there's nothing in your hand

And run like only the river can

Like a free man

You've only so many roads to choose

Sooner or later the ones you use

They all look the same

Someday you might feel the need

Someday when you're tired of bleeding

For someone else

You're gonna want it for yourself

I ain't saying it's the only way

But wouldn't you like to know

RENOWNED AUTHOR ROGER L. SIMON EXPLORES TIMELY THEMES IN AMERICAN REFUGEES: THE UNTOLD STORY OF THE MASS EXODUS FROM BLUE STATES TO RED STATES

Simon invites readers to ponder the age old question of what is a refugee both physically and metaphorically

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT AMERICAN REFUGEES

When drought came to the prairie in the 1930s, thousands of Americans went to a better life in California. Ninety years later, their descendants are leaving in the wake of another disaster, this one more destructive than the Dust Bowl. Roger Simon is among the many refugees fleeing blue state neoliberalism, and he’s written the best account of our generation’s greatest migration.

– Tucker Carlson

As a citizen of Tennessee, I can attest to the fact there is a great migration happening from blue to red states. When people have had enough tyranny, they search for freedom. This book captures a pivotal moment in time for our nation.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 3, 2023) – BIG & RICH is set to debut a new song for FOX Sports’ BIG NOON KICKOFF with a revved-up anthem featuring Cowboy Troy.  Fans can hear it this Saturday during BIG NOON KICKOFF, beginning at 10:00 AM ET on FOX. The familiar melody will have the listeners wanting to “Save A Horse, Ride a Cowboy,” before they catch the No. 7 Texas Longhorns take on the No. 23 Kansas State Wildcats on FOX, live from Austin, Texas.

Big & Rich’s John Rich states, "Big Kenny and I, along with our buddy Cowboy Troy are so excited to debut this song for FOX Sports’ BIG NOON KICKOFF this Saturday! It's a great feeling to have graduated to network television with FOX and be part of college football from coast to coast!"

The BIG NOON KICKOFF rendition is written by Big Kenny, John Rich and Cowboy Troy.

Big & Rich is no stranger to college football, as the super duo has spent the last 15 years opening ESPN’s “CGD” show with the hit “Comin’ To Your City.”

Longhorns superfan Matthew McConaughey joins the show live on-campus this weekend.  Ironically, UT is Rich’s and Cowboy Troy’s favorite team as well.

About Big & Rich:

Big & Rich are America’s Technicolor cowboys, brothers-in-arms in service to the creed that great music has no boundaries. Individually, John Rich and Big Kenny are first-rate musicians, songwriters, producers, entertainers. Together, they are one of the most truly original musical forces ever unleashed on a welcoming world. Big & Rich have made a career of being relatable and musically relevant since exploding into the public consciousness in 2003 as the rarest of breeds—true country music game changers. With 2004’s triple-platinum “Horse of a Different Color,” they were able to tap into the best strands of a wide spectrum of popular music, filter them through their pens and voices and produce a sound that is instantly recognizable, if not classifiable.

 Big Kenny:

William Kenneth Alphin, best known by his stage name Big Kenny, is an American country music singer. Her and John Rich comprise the duo Big & Rich,, who recorded six studio albums and charted nineteen singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Before Big & Rich, Big Kenny recorded a solo album, Live a Little, for Hollywood Records in 1999 (although it was not released until 2005) and fronted a band called luvjOi. He has also written or co-written several of Big & Rich’s songs with Rich, as well as singles for Gretchen Wilson, Jason Aldean, McBride & the Ride, and Tim McGraw. His first solo single, “Long After I’m Gone,” was released to country radio on August 3, 2009, from the album, The Quiet Times of Rock and Roll Farm Boy.

 John Rich:

John Rich is an American country music singer-songwriter. From 1992 to 1998, he was a member of the country music band Lonestar, in which he played bass guitar and alternated with Richie McDonald as lead vocalist. After departing from the band in 1998, he embarked on a solo career on BNA Records in the late 1990s, releasing two singles for the label and recording Underneath the Same Moon, which was not released until 2006. In 2001, he self-released Rescue Me, an album he was inspired to record by a cancer patient named Katie Darnell. By 2003, he joined Big Kenny to form the duo Big & Rich, who released three albums on Warner Bros.

About Cowboy Troy:

Cowboy Troy’s album, Songs from the Piney Woods (2023) gives the listener a window into Troy’s rendition of Texas country and traditional country. Back in 2020, Troy released his four-part Galaxy project. Each EP contained four songs each. Many songs were very forward thinking in the Hick Hop genre but some of the songs had a retro feel in the vein of Texas swing. Looking for the right mix of country radio friendly songs and dance club shakers, Troy intends on keeping the party going. Since 2001, Cowboy Troy has incorporated elements of rap into his version of country music. The native Texan continues to develop his artistry while exploring new topics and incorporating new sounds.

2022 saw Troy star as Finnegan in the western, Desperate Riders and appear in the Bar-S Foods, Ham or Turkey Time ad campaign video with Big & Rich. He was part of the ESPN College Gameday video intro, alongside Big & Rich, from the 2006 college football season until 2022. Troy has also served as co-host for USA Network’s Nashville Star in 2006 and 2007. Troy also performed on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars on the final episode of the 2012 Spring season.
