TITLE TRACK AND SECOND SINGLE RELEASE OFF HER NEW EP, COMING THIS SPRING

NOMINATED FOR FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR AND SONG OF THE YEAR FOR THE ARKANSAS COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS

"GRIT" AVAILABLE NOW ON ALL DIGITAL SERVICES

Arkansas-bred and Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and artist, Alexis Wilkins, releases a brand-new single and the title track of her upcoming EP, “Grit”.  The captivating and traditional country single comes shortly after the release of her previous single, “Stand”.  Both are original tracks off Grit, expected to be released this Spring. "Stand" has already seen early success by hitting the top 10 on the iTunes charts, along with 4 million separate impressions. With the goal of making music that holds the tradition and legacy of the songs she grew up on, Grit comes out of the gates with swampy and melodic fiddle played by Jenee Fleenor, coupled with singing steel by Mike Johnson, Cactus Moser, Justin Weaver, and other greats. Her music is released on Saddle Up Records, with distribution by AWAL. Listen to “Grit” here.

Wilkins was recently nominated for female vocalist of the year and song of the year for “Stand” at the Arkansas Country Music Awards.  She is also an advocate for Veterans and Veterans' causes and is passionate about her work with the VA, Warrior Rounds, and Musicians On Call, feeling as though we can all agree that true grit is best exemplified by our men and women in uniform.

Wilkins commented on the inspiration behind “Grit” saying, “Genuine. Respect. Integrity. Tenacity. The only single word for a cowboy’s perseverance and a fighter’s spirit. I wrote this song from an idea I had about how things used to be, how strong people were made, and how to keep your chin up when things get rough. I know that having grit has carried me through times in my life and I hope that through this song, people find strength in the discomfort and growth in the tough times. Country music is about real stories, real people, doin’ real life, and I hope that hearing this message is an inspiration to keep going. We’re all striving for better, stronger, more for our family, for our lives, heck, for our dogs. I’ve found that the answer to most problems in life is diggin’ your heels in and finding worth in your own grit”.
